Thefts of motorcyles/scooters

Community Notice: 

There has been a recent increase in motorcycle-related anti-social behaviour and thefts in the local area. 

We are asking all motorcycle owners to take extra precautions to secure their bikes and reduce opportunities for offenders. 

Please make sure your motorcycle is properly secured at all times. Use a high-quality lock or disc lock and, wherever possible, lock the bike to something solid so it cannot be wheeled or lifted away. 

Consider fitting a tracker inside the bike to increase the chances of recovery if it is ever taken. Using a cover also helps, as thieves are far less likely to target a bike they cannot immediately identify. 

Most motorcycle thefts are opportunistic. If a bike is well-secured, covered and anchored, offenders will usually move on to an easier target. 

The more residents who secure their bikes properly, the fewer opportunities there are for theft and ASB in the area. Please share this message with neighbours and anyone locally who owns a motorcycle.
